HouseFull 2
REVIEWED BY PRIMLY BORGOHAIN FOR THE Y FACTOR
The storyline & The director:
Housefull 2: The Dirty Dozen. Sajid Khan’s sequel to the 2010 hit, Houseful, is the story of four fathers, four daughters and four prospective son-in-laws, thus ‘the dirty dozen’. Each father wants his daughter to marry the richest son-in-law, Each daughter thinks she is marrying the richest son-in-law. Each son-in-law is pretending to be the richest son-in-law. None of these people can stand each other and all of them are under one roof.
Character Reviews :
Housefull 2 is an action comedy. While repeating his favourites, Akshay Kumar and Ritesh Deshmukh, this film’s cast includes John Abraham, Asin, Jacqueline Fernandez, Zarine Khan, Shazahn Padamsee and Shreyas Talpade, along with veteran actors such as Mithun Chakraborty, Randhir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor and Boman Irani in supporting roles. Lets not forget Chunky Pandey, Ranjeet & Johnny Lever, to spice things up a little. Malaika Arora Khan features in the popular item-number song, Anarkali.
The ladies – Asin (Heena), Jacqueline Fernandez (Bobby), Zarine Khan (JLo) and Shahzahn Padamsee (Parul) don’t have much to do but parade their well-toned bodies and pretty faces. Jacqueline & Zarine Khan spice up the glamour quotient, but Asin once again fails to live upto the magic of Ghajini’s Kalpana . Shahzahn after her promising role as June in Dil To Baccha Hai Ji seems promising.
Akshay Kumar (Sunny), John Abraham (Max), Riteish Deshmukh (Jolly/Jwala), Shreyas Talpade (Jai) –the wannabe son-in-laws, have the meaty roles in the movie. Akshay Kumar is more impressive as a comedian than an action hero in the movie. The movie definitely has some rib tickling comedy and some fresh action. John Abraham not only looks good but also plays his role in the form of comedy and action both. Shreyas and Riteish appear genuine and far more talented than the rest of the dozen. Ritesh is simply outstanding in his niche.
Mithun Chakrabarty as old time’s Jagga Daku who turns out the richest industrialist of UK is hilarious in playing how a dangerous bandit as him could get carried away by emotional blackmailing. Johnny Lever is blessed to have a face which makes u laugh just by looking at him.
Randhir Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor are step brothers who are the fathers of Bobby and Heena respectively in the movie. They definitely impact the movie with the royal Kapoor Charm and with their loud and humorous characters. After the power packed action role by Rishi Kapoor in Agneepath.
One of the most hillarious characters of the movie is the role of Ranjit – The Rapist, playing Akshay’s father, drawing inspiration from the ‘70s Ranjeet, who was known for the lecherous, villainous characters he often played onscreen.
The movie is also guilty of lifting funny scenes from Hollywood flicks. The tennis scene between John and Randhir Kapoor is a straight copy from the 1999 Sharon Stone-starrer “The Muse”. The arrival at the island by getting self offloaded from the cruise also is a clear cut copy of our super hit bollywood blockbuster –Kaho Na Pyaar Hai.
Dialogues by Farhad and Shajid [not Khan] are potential in creating stupid but hilarious situations. Choreography by Farah Khan is good but definitely not the best of her.
THE Y FACTOR ON HOUSEFULL 2
Sajid Khan is known to make masala entertainers by lifting basic premises from Hollywood films. Be it Heyy Babyy (Three Men and a Baby) or HouseFull (Meet the Parents). But one thing is definite, you DO laugh your guts out! The music too is scoring better than the original, with Pappa, Anarkali and Do you know already scoring at the charts.
So if you do like those 2 ½ hours of your life to be spent just laughing about the onscreen shenanigans and throwing caution and reason to the wind, please go watch Housefull2. Besides the fact that this is the first time that the evergreen Kapoor brothers have ever acted in a film together!
Does it have The Y Factor : YES !!
