David F. Sandberg (Lights Out) helms this prequel to the 2014; Annabelle.
A new addition by James Wan to his alternate Conjuring universe, the film traces the life and death and resurrection of Annabelle.
Honestly, the film, due to its hype and lineage will definitely draw in the audiences, quite a few of them, debutantes in this universe, so there is no issue of making profitable returns on the film.
Is the movie on the whole, on its own and as a part of the C Universe, worth it? no.
There are doors, doors and more doors. So when you have so many doors, you are bound to have creaky, slow openings, things hiding behind them and quite a few instances of attempts at opening, breaking and yanking doors.
Barring a few, very few, instances of a good fright, the film while taking its first half to develop the plot, loses complete sheen in the second and goes from clichéd frights to more clichéd scares, making you less and less scared.
No great performances here either and the entire twist in the tale sort of thing too falls flat cos by the time you reach the end, it is already over in the audiences’ mind.
Even for the die hard fans, a maybe watch… otherwise no one is gonna miss this lil girl…
Does it have The Y Factor : NO
